This guide will assist dog owners who wish to bring their dogs along with them to Denmark on vacation or in relation to a more permanent relocation. Read the guide through to learn which rules apply.

How to do it

The dog must accompany the owner

Non-commercial movement of pet animals means that the movement of the dog is caused by the movement of the owner and that the dog during the movement is under the direct responsibility of the owner.

Furthermore, the dog must not be intended for sale just as the ownership of the dog must not be intended to be transferred to another person.

Non-commercial movement of dogs may take place up to five days before or after the the movement of the owner.

If the movement of the dogs cannot take place at the same time as the movement of the owner, but within the time limits mentioned above, the movement of the dog must take place under the responsibility of another person authorised by the owner to move the dog on his/her behalf.

The authorisation must be in writing. For this purpose the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration has created a model that you are welcome to use. Remember to let the authorisation accompany the dog during its movement.

Authorised person means a natural person and could be e.g.:
• Your spouse.
• A friend.
• An employee at an animal transport company.

If the movement of a dog is not caused by the movement of its owner or the movement takes place more than five days before or after the movement of the owner, the movement of the dog must comply with the requirements for commercial import.

The movement of the dog must also comply with the requirements for commercial import if the dog is moved with the intention to be sold or of transferring the ownership of the dog to another person.

On request you must be able to document that the movement is non-commercial

Commercial import of pet animals - especially dogs - often takes place fraudulenty disguised as non-commercial movement. Therefore you may be asked to document that the movement of your dog is indeed non-commercial.

On request from the competent authorities (Police, Customs or the Veterinary authorities) you may be asked to document that the movement of the dog is non-commercial and is caused by the movement of the owner.

Proper documentation can be hotel reservations or invoices, boardingpasses, flight or train tickets etc. which clearly indicates that the movement of the dogs is caused by the movement of the owner.

Although you are merely passing through Sweden, your dog must comply with the same requirements as if it was moved to Sweden

There are certain dog breeds that you may not move to Denmark

These 13 dog breeds are not allowed in Denmark:

1) Pitt Bull Terrier
2) Tosa Inu
3) American Staffordshire Terrier
4) Fila Brasileiro
5) Dogo Argentino
6) American Bulldog
7) Boerboel
8) Kangal
9) Central Asian Shepherd Dog (ovtcharka)
10) Caucasian Shepherd Dog (ovtcharka)
11) South Russian Shepherd Dog (ovtcharka)
12) Tornjak
13) Sarplaninac

Cross-breeds of any of the breeds mentioned above are also not allowed in Denmark. Exemption from these rules is not possible.

Movement of wild dog species or cross-breeds hereof is also not allowed.

An exception can be made if the transport takes place without unnecessary stays in this country. This means if you are travelling by car, the dog is not allowed to leave the car during transit in Denmark – except for very short stays outside, for example when it is necessary for the dog to pee. Traveling by train is not included in this exception.

Nevertheless, if you did own your dog prior to March 17, 2010, the dog will be covered by the transitional arrangements. Therefore you are allowed to bring such a dog to Denmark.

During your stay in Denmark you must comply with the requirements of the Danish Dog Act. For more information read about The Danish dog law at the website of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries of Denmark.

Your dog must have a valid identification

The dog must be marked with a microchip or by a clearly readable tattoo applied before July 3, 2011.

The technical requirements of the microchip must comply with ISO Standard 11784 and apply HDX or FDX-B technology and be capable of being read by a reading device compatible with ISO Standard 11785.

If your dogs microchip does not comply with the ISO Standard

Then the owner or the authorised person must provide the means necessary for reading that microchip at the time of any verification of the marking on request from the competent authority.

The maximum number of pet animals of the species dog, cat and ferret you move may not exceed five

The maximum number of pet animals of the species dog, cat and ferret that may accompany their owner or an authorised person during a movement may not exceed five animals in total.

However, that number may exceed five animals if the following conditions are met:

1) The movement of the pet animals is for the purpose of participation in competitions, exhibitions or sporting events or in training for such events.

2) The animals are accompanied by written documentation that they are registered either to attend such events or with an association organizing such events.

3) All the pet animals are more than six months old.

If the pet animals do not meet the conditions mentioned above they must comply with the requirements for commercial import.

Registration in the Danish Dog Register

Your dog must be registered in the Danish Dog Register no later than 4 weeks upon arrival in Denmark.

This means that even if your stay in Denmark is only temporary, your dog must be registered in the Danish Dog Register if the stay exceeds 4 weeks.

Your dog must be accompanied by a Veterinary Certificate

Different versions of the Veterinary Certificate are allowed. However, it must be in compliance with Regulation (EU) 577/2013.

The competent veterinary authority in the country of dispatch must issue the certificate and will decide which version to use.

Some countries uses the EU Commission's TRACES system and fill out the certificate here. Other countries have created their own version.

The Veterinary Certificate must be filled out and issued by an official veterinarian from the competent veterinary authority or by an authorised veterinarian and then endorsed by the competent veterinary authorities in the country from where the animal is moved.

Does your dog have an EU Pet Passport?

If your dog has a valid EU Pet Passport, and all certifications that are required to bring the dog back to the territory of the EU were written in the passport before the dog left the territory of the EU, the dog does not need a Veterinary Certificate.

Veterinarians in non-EU countries may not certify in the EU Pet Passport

It is only authorised veterinarians in EU Member States that may certify in the EU Pet Passport. A veterinarian in the country that you have choosen is not authorised to certify in the EU Pet Passport.

If your dog needs e.g. a rabies vaccination carried out in the country you have choosen before you can bring the dog back to the territory of the EU, the certification for this vaccination must be given on a seperate vaccination certificate.

This also means that the dog must have a veterinary certificate in order to be moved back into the territory of the EU. The veterinarian that will issue the veterinary certificate will base his/her certifications of the veterinary certificate on the certifications in the passport and vaccination certificate.

Your dog must be vaccinated against rabies at least 21 days prior to its movement to Denmark

Your dog must be vaccinated against rabies by an authorised veterinarian in accordance with the requirements of Annex III of Regulation (EU) 576/2013.

The dog must be at least 12 weeks old on the date of the vaccination. The date of vaccination must not precede the date of application or date of reading of the microchip or tattoo.

The period of validity of the rabies vaccination starts from the establishment of protective immunity, which must not be less than 21 days from the completion of the vaccination protocol required by the manufacturer for the primary vaccination, and continues until the end of the period of protective immunity.

A revaccination must be considered a primary vaccination if it was not carried out within the period of validty of the previous rabies vaccination.

However, if a revaccination was carried out within the period of validity the movement may take place immediately provided other requirements are met.

There is no possibility of exemption from the requirement for valid rabies vaccination.

If your dog on its way to Denmark is moved through a non-listed country

Please be aware that if your dog on its way to Denmark is moved through a non-listed country, further requirements must be met.

Non-listed countries are all non-EU countries not listed in Annex II to Regulation (EU) 577/2013

Dogs moved from a non-listed country will require a rabies antibody titration test.

However, no rabies antibody titration test is required if:
- No stops are conducted during the movement.
- The dogs have had no contact with animals of species susceptible to rabies.
- The dogs remains secure within a means of transport or within the perimeter of an international airport.
- The owner or the authorised person can present a written Transit Declaration stating this. The declaration must accompany the dog during the movement.

The dog must enter the EU through a travellers' point of entry

It is not allowed to bring pets from non-EU countries (listed as well as non-listed countries) into EU through any other border crossing than one of the designated travellers' point of entry in either Denmark or another EU country as listed below.

Regarding the checks conducted at the travellers' point of entry

The checks of your dog and its accompanying documents will take place at the travellers' point of entry where you and your dogs enters the territory of the EU.

It eases the checks if you notify the travellers' point of entry at least 24 hours before your arrival.

At the travellers' point of entry your dog's identity and accompanying documents will be checked by customs or a border inspection veterinarian. The checks in Denmark are free of charge, however the checks may cost a fee in other EU countries.

Your dog must be accompanied by a Veterinary Certificate

Different versions of the Veterinary Certificate are allowed. However, it must be in compliance with Regulation (EU) 577/2013.

The competent veterinary authority in the country of dispatch must issue the certificate and will decide which version to use.

Your dog must be tested for Nipah disease

The following requirements must be met:

1. Your dog must have had no contact with pigs in the last 60 days prior to the time of dispatch from Malaysia.
2. Your dog must not have been kept on pig holdings, where cases of Nipah disease has been confirmed in the last 60 days.
3. Your dog has been testet with negative result to an ELISA-test for the detection of IgG. The test must be performed in a laboratory approved for tests for antibodies against Nipah disease virus by the competent veterinary authorities in a sample of blood taken during the last 10 days prior to the date of departure.

The above mentioned requirements must be documented by a Malaysian official veterinarian.

Please note: Are you moving your dog from Sarawak or Sabah located on Borneo, these requirements does not apply.

If your dog on its way to Denmark is moved through a non-listed country

Please be aware that if your dog on its way to Denmark is moved through a non-listed country, further requirements must be met.

Non-listed countries are all non-EU countries not listed in Annex II to Regulation (EU) 577/2013

Your dog must be vaccinated against rabies by an authorised veterinarian in accordance with the requirements of Annex III of Regulation (EU) 576/2013.

A rabies antibody titration test must be carried out

At least 30 days after the rabies vaccination and at least 3 months prior to the movement of the dog to Denmark, your dog must undergo af rabies antibody titration test on a blood sample. The blood sample must be examined at an EU approved rabies laboratory.

The blood sample can be examined in any of the EU approved rabies laboratories. If there is no laboratory in your country, choose another laboratory from the lists.

The result must show that the dog's rabies vaccination has caused immunity and that a sufficient amount of antibodies against rabies are present

The result of the test must be at least 0,5 IU/ml or more.

Not until 3 months after the date of the blood sampling, and only if the result of the test is at least 0,5 IU/ml or more, can the dog be moved to Denmark.

Reimport to EU

If your dog had a rabies antibody titration test carried out before it was moved out of the EU territory and the result was satisfactory, the dog does not have to wait 3 months before being moved back to the EU.

The dog must enter the EU through a travellers' point of entry

It is not allowed to bring pets from non-EU countries (listed as well as non-listed countries) into EU through any other border crossing than one of the designated travellers' point of entry in either Denmark or another EU country as listed below.

If your dog needs e.g. a rabies vaccination carried out in the country you have choosen before you can bring the dog back to the territory of the EU, the certification for this vaccination must be given on a seperate vaccination certificate.

This also means that the dog must have a veterinary certificate in order to be moved back into the territory of the EU. The veterinarian that will issue the veterinary certificate will base his/her certifications of the veterinary certificate on the certifications in the passport and vaccination certificate.

Your dog must be tested for Nipah disease

The following requirements must be met:

1. Your dog must have had no contact with pigs in the last 60 days prior to the time of dispatch from Malaysia.
2. Your dog must not have been kept on pig holdings, where cases of Nipah disease has been confirmed in the last 60 days.
3. Your dog has been testet with negative result to an ELISA-test for the detection of IgG. The test must be performed in a laboratory approved for tests for antibodies against Nipah disease virus by the competent veterinary authorities in a sample of blood taken during the last 10 days prior to the date of departure.

The above mentioned requirements must be documented by a Malaysian official veterinarian.

Please note: Are you moving your dog from Sarawak or Sabah located on Borneo, these requirements does not apply.

If your dog on its way to Denmark is moved through a non-listed country

Please be aware that if your dog on its way to Denmark is moved through a non-listed country, further requirements must be met.

Non-listed countries are all non-EU countries not listed in Annex II to Regulation (EU) 577/2013

Dogs moved from a non-listed country will require a rabies antibody titration test.

However, no rabies antibody titration test is required if:
- No stops are conducted during the movement.
- The dogs have had no contact with animals of species susceptible to rabies.
- The dogs remains secure within a means of transport or within the perimeter of an international airport.
- The owner or the authorised person can present a written Transit Declaration stating this. The declaration must accompany the dog during the movement.

Regarding the checks conducted at the travellers' point of entry

The checks of your dog and its accompanying documents will take place at the travellers' point of entry where you and your dogs enters the territory of the EU.

It eases the checks if you notify the travellers' point of entry at least 24 hours before your arrival.

At the travellers' point of entry your dog's identity and accompanying documents will be checked by customs or a border inspection veterinarian. The checks in Denmark are free of charge, however the checks may cost a fee in other EU countries.

You must get an import permit in order to bring your dog to Greenland

You will need an import permit from the Greenlandic Representation in Copenhagen as well as a permit from the municipality in Greenland where you will be staying with your dog.

Below you will find the information needed on how to apply for the permits.

There are five municipalities in Greenland: Kommune Kujalleq, Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq, Qeqqata Kommunia, Kommune Qeqertalik and Avannaata Kommunia.

Permits will not be granted to bring a dog to the northern and eastern parts of Greenland as they are part of the sledge district.

All of Avannaata Kommunia and parts of Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq and Qeqqata Kommune are located in the sledge district, therefore you may not bring your dog to these parts of Greenland.

Before you decide to bring your dog to Greenland, please be aware that the possibility for veterinary assistance in Greenland is very limited.

Write an application for an import permit for your dog

The application does not have to follow a specific form. You may send a letter or an e-mail to the Greenland Representation stating your wish to bring a dog to Greenland.

Your dog must be vaccinated against distemper and parvovirus infection

Your dog must have the primary vaccinations against distemper and parvovirus and the re-vaccination with a maximum of 12 months apart. The vaccination must be documented in a certificate issued by your authorised veterinarian.

Dogs under 3 months old does not need to be vaccinated against distemper and parvovirus infection, if their mother is vaccinated according to the above mentioned. In such cases the vaccination book of the mother must be presented to the Greenlandic Representation.

If you make sure, that your dog has an EU Pet Passport issued before it is moved to Greenland, it will be much easier to bring the dog back from Greenland, as certain rules apply for import of dogs from Greeland to Denmark.

If your dog is vaccinated against rabies for the first time

Then your dog must be vaccinated no earlier than 12 months before and no later than 30 days prior to the time of departure for Greenland.

If your dog has already been vaccinated against rabies

If the former vaccination is still valid, that is less than 12 months since the former vaccination, a re-vaccination will be valid immediately. However, you must bring documentation of the former vaccination as well as the re-vaccination.

Puppies under three month

- Are not required to be vaccinated against rabies if documentation is available indicating that the mother of the puppies was vaccinated no later than one month and no more than one year prior to the birth of her puppies.

Documention of the mothers vaccination must be presented to the Greenlandic Representation.

Please be aware that the Government of Greeland does not derogate from the rules regarding the requirements for rabies vaccination of the mother.

A health certificate must be issued for your dog

The health certificate must be issued no earlier than 14 days before your dog is moved to Greenland.

The health certificate must document that your dog does not suffer from scabies (Sarcoptes spp.), Demodex canis or shows symptoms of other infectious diseases, including other ectoparasites such as flees.

Your dog must be kept isolated from other dogs and dewormed

Your dog must be isolated from other dogs from the day the health certificate is issued and until it is moved to Greenland. However, your dog may only enter Greenland if it is free of any signs of disease.

Furthermore, you dog must be dewormed within 14 days prior to the date of departure for Greenland. This you must declare.

Declaration from the owner

You will find the declaration from the owner on the health certificate. Here you have to sign that you will make sure the dog remains isolated and is dewormed as described above prior to the departure.

You need a permit to keep dogs from the municipality of residence in Greenland

Contact the municipality where you will be staying to get a permit.

If your dog is female it must be spayed before being permitted to be moved to Greenland

You will need documentation from your veterinarian that your dog is spayed.

If your female dog is only staying in Greenland 3 months or less

Then you must contact the municipality of residence for more information on the possibility of avoiding spaying.

How to do it

The dog must accompany the owner

Non-commercial movement of pet animals means that the movement of the dog is caused by the movement of the owner and that the dog during the movement is under the direct responsibility of the owner.

Furthermore, the dog must not be intended for sale just as the ownership of the dog must not be intended to be transferred to another person.

Non-commercial movement of dogs may take place up to five days before or after the the movement of the owner.

If the movement of the dogs cannot take place at the same time as the movement of the owner, but within the time limits mentioned above, the movement of the dog must take place under the responsibility of another person authorised by the owner to move the dog on his/her behalf.

The authorisation must be in writing. For this purpose the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration has created a model that you are welcome to use. Remember to let the authorisation accompany the dog during its movement.

Authorised person means a natural person and could be e.g.:
• Your spouse.
• A friend.
• An employee at an animal transport company.

If the movement of a dog is not caused by the movement of its owner or the movement takes place more than five days before or after the movement of the owner, the movement of the dog must comply with the requirements for commercial import.

The movement of the dog must also comply with the requirements for commercial import if the dog is moved with the intention to be sold or of transferring the ownership of the dog to another person.

On request you must be able to document that the movement is non-commercial

Commercial import of pet animals - especially dogs - often takes place fraudulenty disguised as non-commercial movement. Therefore you may be asked to document that the movement of your dog is indeed non-commercial.

On request from the competent authorities (Police, Customs or the Veterinary authorities) you may be asked to document that the movement of the dog is non-commercial and is caused by the movement of the owner.

Proper documentation can be hotel reservations or invoices, boardingpasses, flight or train tickets etc. which clearly indicates that the movement of the dogs is caused by the movement of the owner.

There are certain dog breeds that you may not move to Denmark

These 13 dog breeds are not allowed in Denmark:

1) Pitt Bull Terrier
2) Tosa Inu
3) American Staffordshire Terrier
4) Fila Brasileiro
5) Dogo Argentino
6) American Bulldog
7) Boerboel
8) Kangal
9) Central Asian Shepherd Dog (ovtcharka)
10) Caucasian Shepherd Dog (ovtcharka)
11) South Russian Shepherd Dog (ovtcharka)
12) Tornjak
13) Sarplaninac

Cross-breeds of any of the breeds mentioned above are also not allowed in Denmark. Exemption from these rules is not possible.

Movement of wild dog species or cross-breeds hereof is also not allowed.

An exception can be made if the transport takes place without unnecessary stays in this country. This means if you are travelling by car, the dog is not allowed to leave the car during transit in Denmark – except for very short stays outside, for example when it is necessary for the dog to pee. Traveling by train is not included in this exception.

Nevertheless, if you did own your dog prior to March 17, 2010, the dog will be covered by the transitional arrangements. Therefore you are allowed to bring such a dog to Denmark.

During your stay in Denmark you must comply with the requirements of the Danish Dog Act. For more information read about The Danish dog law at the website of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries of Denmark

Your dog must have a valid identification

The dog must be marked with a microchip or by a clearly readable tattoo applied before July 3, 2011.

The technical requirements of the microchip must comply with ISO Standard 11784 and apply HDX or FDX-B technology and be capable of being read by a reading device compatible with ISO Standard 11785.

If your dogs microchip does not comply with the ISO Standard

Then the owner or the authorised person must provide the means necessary for reading that microchip at the time of any verification of the marking on request from the competent authority.

The maximum number of pet animals of the species dog, cat and ferret you move may not exceed five

The maximum number of pet animals of the species dog, cat and ferret that may accompany their owner or an authorised person during a movement may not exceed five animals in total.

However, that number may exceed five animals if the following conditions are met:

1) The movement of the pet animals is for the purpose of participation in competitions, exhibitions or sporting events or in training for such events.

2) The animals are accompanied by written documentation that they are registered either to attend such events or with an association organizing such events.

3) All the pet animals are more than six months old.

If the pet animals do not meet the conditions mentioned above they must comply with the requirements for commercial import.

Get and fill out the Puppy/Kitten Declaration

This declaration is applicaple for movement of young dogs that:

- are either under 12 weeks old and not yet vaccinated againt rabies, or
- are between 12 and 16 weeks old and vaccinated against rabies, but that vaccination is not yet valid.

A valid rabies vaccination means that your dog is vaccinated against rabies by an authorized veterinarian in accordance with the requirements of Annex III of Regulation (EU) 576/2013.

If the puppy does not have a valid rabies vaccination, the owner or the authorised person must fill out and sign the Puppy/Kitten Declaration which besides the EU Pet Passport must accompany the puppy during the movement to Denmark.

Please note that this declaration may not be used in connection with movement of young stray dogs as their upbrinning is unknown.

Your puppy must be at least 8 weeks old

It is not allowed to bring a dog to Denmark which is under 8 weeks old unless it is moved with its mother.

Movement of puppy litters and the mother

If your are moving a dog with its litter of puppies, you are not to use the Puppy/Kitten Declaration.

However, it must be stated in the EU Pet Passport of the mother that she had a valid rabies vaccination prior to the birth of the puppies.

Be careful when buying a puppy

It is not irrelevant from where you buy or get a puppy.

Buying a puppy should be an informed decision and not a hasty impulse.

If you search for a serious breeder you will minimize the risk of buying a puppy that is sick or brought up under bad conditions.

Registration in the Danish Dog Register

Your dog must be registered in the Danish Dog Register no later than 4 weeks upon arrival in Denmark.

This means that even if your stay in Denmark is only temporary, your dog must be registered in the Danish Dog Register if the stay exceeds 4 weeks.

The dog must be at least 12 weeks old on the date of the vaccination. The date of vaccination must not precede the date of application or date of reading of the microchip or tattoo.

The period of validity of the rabies vaccination starts from the establishment of protective immunity, which must not be less than 21 days from the completion of the vaccination protocol required by the manufacturer for the primary vaccination, and continues until the end of the period of protective immunity.

A revaccination must be considered a primary vaccination if it was not carried out within the period of validty of the previous rabies vaccination.

However, if a revaccination was carried out within the period of validity the movement may take place immediately provided other requirements are met.

There is no possibility of exemption from the requirement for valid rabies vaccination.

If your dog on its way to Denmark is moved through a non-listed country

The period of validity of the rabies vaccination starts from the establishment of protective immunity, which must not be less than 21 days from the completion of the vaccination protocol required by the manufacturer for the primary vaccination, and continues until the end of the period of protective immunity.

A revaccination must be considered a primary vaccination if it was not carried out within the period of validty of the previous rabies vaccination.

However, if a revaccination was carried out within the period of validity the movement may take place immediately provided other requirements are met.

A rabies antibody titration test must be carried out

At least 30 days after the rabies vaccination and at least 3 months prior to the movement of the dog to Denmark, your dog must undergo af rabies antibody titration test on a blood sample. The blood sample must be examined at an EU approved rabies laboratory.

The blood sample can be examined in any of the EU approved rabies laboratories. If there is no laboratory in your country, choose another laboratory from the lists.

The result must show that the dog's rabies vaccination has caused immunity and that a sufficient amount of antibodies against rabies are present

The result of the test must be at least 0,5 IU/ml or more.

Not until 3 months after the date of the blood sampling, and only if the result of the test is at least 0,5 IU/ml or more, can the dog be moved to Denmark.

Reimport to EU

If your dog had a rabies antibody titration test carried out before it was moved out of the EU territory and the result was satisfactory, the dog does not have to wait 3 months before being moved back to the EU.

The dog must enter the EU through a travellers' point of entry

It is not allowed to bring pets from non-EU countries (listed as well as non-listed countries) into EU through any other border crossing than one of the designated travellers' point of entry in either Denmark or another EU country as listed below.

Regarding the checks conducted at the travellers' point of entry

The checks of your dog and its accompanying documents will take place at the travellers' point of entry where you and your dogs enters the territory of the EU.

It eases the checks if you notify the travellers' point of entry at least 24 hours before your arrival.

At the travellers' point of entry your dog's identity and accompanying documents will be checked by customs or a border inspection veterinarian. The checks in Denmark are free of charge, however the checks may cost a fee in other EU countries.

Your dog must be accompanied by a Veterinary Certificate

Different versions of the Veterinary Certificate are allowed. However, it must be in compliance with Regulation (EU) 577/2013.

The competent veterinary authority in the country of dispatch must issue the certificate and will decide which version to use.

Some countries uses the EU Commission's TRACES system and fill out the certificate here. Other countries have created their own version.

The Veterinary Certificate must be filled out and issued by an official veterinarian from the competent veterinary authority or by an authorised veterinarian and then endorsed by the competent veterinary authorities in the country from where the animal is moved.

Does your dog have an EU Pet Passport?

If your dog has a valid EU Pet Passport, and all certifications that are required to bring the dog back to the territory of the EU were written in the passport before the dog left the territory of the EU, the dog does not need a Veterinary Certificate.

Veterinarians in non-EU countries may not certify in the EU Pet Passport

It is only authorised veterinarians in EU Member States that may certify in the EU Pet Passport. A veterinarian in the country that you have choosen is not authorised to certify in the EU Pet Passport.

If your dog needs e.g. a rabies vaccination carried out in the country you have choosen before you can bring the dog back to the territory of the EU, the certification for this vaccination must be given on a seperate vaccination certificate.

This also means that the dog must have a veterinary certificate in order to be moved back into the territory of the EU. The veterinarian that will issue the veterinary certificate will base his/her certifications of the veterinary certificate on the certifications in the passport and vaccination certificate.

If your dog on its way to Denmark is moved through a non-listed country

Please be aware that if your dog on its way to Denmark is moved through a non-listed country, further requirements must be met.

Non-listed countries are all non-EU countries not listed in Annex II to Regulation (EU) 577/2013

Dogs moved from a non-listed country will require a rabies antibody titration test.

However, no rabies antibody titration test is required if:
- No stops are conducted during the movement.
- The dogs have had no contact with animals of species susceptible to rabies.
- The dogs remains secure within a means of transport or within the perimeter of an international airport.
- The owner or the authorised person can present a written Transit Declaration stating this. The declaration must accompany the dog during the movement.

Your dog must be tested for Nipah disease

The following requirements must be met:

1. Your dog must have had no contact with pigs in the last 60 days prior to the time of dispatch from Malaysia.
2. Your dog must not have been kept on pig holdings, where cases of Nipah disease has been confirmed in the last 60 days.
3. Your dog has been testet with negative result to an ELISA-test for the detection of IgG. The test must be performed in a laboratory approved for tests for antibodies against Nipah disease virus by the competent veterinary authorities in a sample of blood taken during the last 10 days prior to the date of departure.

The above mentioned requirements must be documented by a Malaysian official veterinarian.

Please note: Are you moving your dog from Sarawak or Sabah located on Borneo, these requirements does not apply.
