Travelling from Denmark

However, the EU member states may have national requirements for non-commercial movements of birds.

If case of outbreaks of avian influenza in an EU country, specific movement restrictions for pet birds may be in force.

Most non-EU countries will have specific import requirements.

Therefore, it is important well in advance, before bringing a bird to another country either on holiday or relocation, to gather information on the import requirements of the country in question.

The import requirements may be acquired from the following authorities:

  • The veterinary authority
  • The embassy or consular post of the country in question
  • The Danish missions abroad in the country in question
