According to Council Regulation 1099/2009, each Member State must ensure that sufficient independent scientific support is available – via a contact point - to assist the competent authorities upon their request. Such scientific support may be provided via a network.
DCAW as network for scientific support
In Denmark, the Danish Centre for Animal Welfare (DCAW) has been appointed as the network and contact point for scientific support. The contact point is responsible for sharing technical and scientific information and best practices regarding the implementation of this Regulation with its counterparts and the Commission.
