DCAW Conferences

​​​​​​DCAW hosts an annual conference, where recent developments and findings relevant to animal welfare issues will be presented.

Conference delegates at the annual conference include the Minister of Environment and Food, politicians, authorities, researchers, farming organisations, the veterinary association and animal rights organisations.

Conference 2017: Joint DCAW and NordCAW Animal Welfare Conference October 3+4
University of Copenhagen is, in collaboration with Danish Centre for Animal Welfare (DCAW) and the Nordic Network for Communicating Animal Welfare (NordCAW) arranging a two day conference on animal welfare.

DCAW 2016 Conference
In 2016, the conference theme was "Animal welfare for the future".

In 2014, the conference theme was "​​A rich life – enrichment across animal species".

DCAW 2013 Conference
In 2013, the conference theme was "The human-animal relationship – how does it affect animal welfare?"

DCAW 2012 Conference
The annual DCAW conference themed "Welfare of sick animals – is it good enough?" was held in Copenhagen on November 21, 2012.

DCAW 2011 conference
The annual DCAW conference themed "Market-driven animal welfare" was held in Copenhagen on November 2, 2011.

DCAW 2010 Conference
In November 2010, DCAW held its inaugural conference in Copenhagen with the theme "Welfare Assessment versus Welfare Control".

About 100 delegates attended the conference, including the Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries. Delegates also included animal welfare researchers, representatives from the farming industry, the Danish Veterinary Association, the police and animals rights organisations.
