Suspension of IHN-free status (June 2, 2021)

On 2 June 2021, the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration suspended Denmark's status as being free of IHN. The suspension is a transitional measure that the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration deems necessary until the disease has been contained. IHN-free status is temporarily suspended for a period of three weeks until 23 June, 2021. The suspension will be reevaluated in the days leading up to June 23.

The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration will in the suspension period therefore not issue health certificates for intra-community trade of live fish and eyed eggs, which requires country or zone freedom from IHN. Denmark will continue to allow intra-community trade to other EU member states, zones or compartments not being free from IHN or not being subject to an eradication programme for IHN.

Export of fish and derived products to countries outside the EU, may still commence, if the products comply with the requirements in the relevant export health certificates.

The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration will seek to continue market access for eyed eggs to countries outside EU, based on either already existing agreements or negation of new health attestations.
