Animal welfare during transport
The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration is responsible for issuing authorisations to transporters, for approval of journey logs, and for inspections when animals arrive at a slaughterhouse, when animals are exported directly from the herd or when animals are exported via assembly centres.
Checks on the road during transport are carried out by the police. Veterinarians from the Veterinary Task Force very often assist the police during controls.
