The responsibility for the Danish animal welfare control lies with the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, and – as regards transport – also with the police.
The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries is responsible for animal welfare legislation in Denmark, including implementation of EU-legislation on animal welfare. The primary legislation is the Act on the Protection of Animals (Dyreværnsloven).
